STEAM Day was a 2-day event at Highland this month. Students were enthusiastically engaged in a variety of STEAM activities while using their critical thinking and collaborative #EASDLifeReady skills. Awesome! Thanks to the Ephrata Area Education Foundation!

During the December half-day, great career insights were shared with students in 11th grade. Thanks to our community partners for making this possible and inspiring our students.

We love welcoming community partners into our schools! On Wednesday, December 6, eight business leaders spoke to students in 8th grade as part of the annual Cornerstone kickoff.

Let's get to know our Mountaineer staff! FIRST UP...

The December school board reorganization meeting included District Justice Tony Russell administering the Oath of Office to newly elected and reelected officers. We welcome Jason Breckbill and thank all board members for their service to our students, staff and community.

Congrats to the most recent inductees to the Ephrata High School National Honor Society. #MountsPride #EASDLifeReady

The artwork of the Ephrata Area School District annual holiday card this year was drawn by Jasmine Teleguz. Well done, Jasmine!

Celebrating Public Education: Several students in 8th grade each gave a short presentation in the format of inspirational TedTalks. Students chose the topics of limited screen time to experience the outdoors, integrity, and trust. Each communicated their concepts and thoughts very confidently. Well done, Mountaineers!
School Board Resolutions included the state athletic achievements of cross country and girls’ volleyball, as well as the service of retiring Board member, Dr. Nancy Aronson.

Today, a group of elementary students are having a Thanksgiving feast. This activity encourages students with autism to practice social skills, communication, and functional life skills outside of the classroom. #MountsPride #EASDLifeReady

Akron Elementary School students have been exploring outer space in their very own mobile planetarium. StarLab has been at the school for the last week and has generated much excitement from students!

How would you answer this first grade writing prompt?

These students participated in the six-week Attollo Recruit program, meeting before school from 5:30 – 7:00 AM three times a week! They focused on Six Pillars – Strong Mind, Competition, Resiliency, Accountability, Sacrifice, and Finishing Strong. Students set individualized plans of action and can NOW also solve the Rubiks Cube in under two minutes. IMPRESSIVE! By the end of the six weeks, students have shared they feel empowered by their hard work and dedication and “feel like they can accomplish anything.”

FANTASTIC!
Congrats, Mary!
