This week, a group of Akron Elementary students had a special opportunity to learn from members of the EHS Football Team! The athletes shared #EASDLifeReady lessons that go beyond the field—about teamwork, grit, resilience, and more! From working together toward a common goal to lifting each other up during challenges, our students gained valuable insights into what it means to lead with character and persevere. Big thanks to the EHS players for being positive role models and showing our younger students how hard work and teamwork can inspire success on and off the field. GO MOUNTS!

REMINDER: EASD schools and offices will be closed Friday, August 29 & Monday, September 1. Best wishes for a safe and relaxing weekend!

HIGH FIVE! We did it! Great job this week, Mountaineers! See you back on Tuesday!

On National Dog Day we’re celebrating our two amazing Facility Dogs, Izzy and Bentley, who bring comfort and joy to everyone they meet. Bentley works hard every day reminding us what true loyalty looks like, while Izzy… well, let’s just say she’s balancing her time between her Facility Dog duties and moonlighting at Penn State. Rumor has it she’s working on her degree in “Advanced Belly Rub Studies” with a minor in Treat Negotiations. Thank you, Izzy and Bentley, for the pawsitive impact you make every single day!

Please join us in welcoming the newest member of the Mountaineer family! Look for him at sporting events, in our schools, and throughout the community!

A special thank you to Ryan Rydzewski & Gregg Behr for sharing their blueprint for learning and motivating our staff to embody LRG traits to “Be The E” every day.

Educators are engaged and energized to bring another inspiring school year to students!

It's been a fantastic start to the week with our incredible teachers back in school! This afternoon, we’ll all come together for our official District Opening—the perfect way to kick off a great school year before we welcome students back on Monday.

EASD Athletics stands on a strong foundation — built by student-athletes who lead with heart. Recent grads and team captains reflected on what defines us: accountability, decision-making, respect, and making a positive impact. Now it’s your turn to get involved! Whether on the field, in the stands, or behind the scenes, there’s a place for everyone in our programs.

Congratulations to all of our June School Board Resolution recipients! From impressive athletic accomplishments to academic honors at the state and national levels, it was a pleasure to recognize so many deserving Mountaineers at the final board meeting of the 2024–25 school year.

Best wishes to rising EHS senior Breelyn Beyer who is headed to Germany this week! This competitive scholarship program includes a three-week educational and cultural immersion experience for high-achieving students of German through the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG). Breelyn qualified with earning high scores on the National German Exam and meeting a range of eligibility criteria, including a comprehensive interview conducted solely in German. During the trip, she will attend classes at a local academic high school, live with host families, and participate in cultural excursions. The program fosters language learning and cross-cultural understanding through homestays, classroom integration, and supervised field trips.

Our first round of last day dismissals are complete! What a send off! Best wishes for a safe & relaxing summer, EMS & EHS!

Big congrats to our Ephrata musicians!
🎺 On May 16, the EMS Band rocked Music in the Parks at Hershey with a 91.25 score — 1st place & superior rating!
🎤 On May 20, EMS Mounts Melodic & EHS Camerata Choir also earned superior ratings!
So proud of all our performers

CONGRATS to our Unified Track team who placed second yesterday at the L-L Meet. These Mountaineers were energized and ready, earning many personal records. What a great way to end the season!

Loved seeing so many students show off their school pride for College Decision Day! Plus, a recent job fair gave soon-to-be grads a great start as they prepare to enter the workforce.

Our spring concerts were nothing short of amazing—if we do say so ourselves! Missed any or want to relive the magic? It’s the perfect weekend watch. Catch the full performances now on our Events YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@ephrataareaschooldistric.../streams

This morning, over 260 EHS students were honored with Mountaineer Recognition Awards for a variety of achievements — but most of all, for embodying the #EASDLifeReady traits of a Mountaineer!

Two teams proudly represented EASD at the Lancaster Co. Envirothon. After weeks of prep, they tackled tests in Aquatics, Wildlife, Forestry, Soils, and Current Issues. One team even broke a three-way tie to win the Current Issues category! Congrats to all who competed! 👏🌿🦉
