The EHS Unified Bocce Team earned a win against EASD administrators in the annual Bocce Bowl, decided by a “Golden Frame” tiebreaker. EASD launched Unified Sports in 2019 and is among 10,000+ U.S. schools offering Special Olympics Unified Sports®, promoting inclusion and leadership.
We are grateful for our partnership with Jr. Achievement of South Central PA and the valuable programs they provide for our students, along with meaningful volunteer opportunities for our community members. 40 student teams recently competed in the annual EASD K'NEX Challenge to design a prototype that addresses a real-world problem related to infrastructure, transportation, or urban development. The goal is to inspire students to think about how cities, roads, bridges, and systems can be built or improved to be more efficient, sustainable, and accessible. Teams from EIS and Akron Elementary School were the top-finishers and will represent EASD next month at the IU13 level of competition. Congrats, Mountaineers!
From Cybersecurity to Culinary Arts, Aerospace Engineering to Economics, EHS students can choose from a LONG LIST of electives to hone academic goals, career interests and individual talents. Last night's School Board meeting was full of highlights! Directors approved full-day Kindergarten for 25-26, celebrated music and athletics achievements, highlighted Ag Mechanics and Student Tutoring, and honored "Be The E" staff. Plus, directors were recognized for School Board Recognition Month.
Exciting news from EIS! This year, they hosted their very first Spelling Bee, and the top four spellers advanced to a virtual regional challenge hosted by WITF, competing against over 200 participants!
We’re thrilled to share that out of 33 students who qualified for the Grand Championship Bee, Diamond Wratto (5th Grade, EIS) earned a spot! The Grand Championship Bee will take place on March 15, 2025 at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.

Fulton Elementary School third-graders made real-world connections to their reading theme of 'The Sea' and their Clean Water Cornerstone during a visit from Environmental Protection Agency scuba divers today. Students were highly engaged, asked thoughtful questions, and deepened their understanding in meaningful ways.
The EIS Kindness Challenge, organized by students who are part of "Leaders of the Future Generation," was a week-long event. It was particularly meaningful that students from Mrs. McQuate’s Life Skills class participated in the activities!

Our first year in the @inventitforward Invention Convention was a success! Out of 500+ PA entries, THREE EASD teams were named among the top 21 in the STATE! These students will compete on Feb. 12 for a spot in the June National Convention. Congrats & Good Luck, Mountaineers!
After finishing the book "Rap A Tap Tap" and learning all about Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, Akron Kindergartners taped pennies to the soles of their sneakers or brought their own tap shoes to participate in their very own tap class today! Look at that focus and determination! Great job, Mountaineers!
We are proud to again be a part of GIANT Feeding School Kids initiative. Since 2021, over $19,000 has been provided to help ensure all EASD students have adequate access to meals. Now – March 31 "round up at the register" to help support this worthy cause!

Join us in congratulating these Mountaineers who completed the six-week Attollo program, meeting before school at 6AM three times a week, and focusing on the Six Pillars – Strong Mind, Competition, Resiliency, Accountability, Sacrifice, and Finishing Strong. Students set individualized plans of action and can now also solve the Rubiks Cube in under two minutes. IMPRESSIVE! These amazing Mountaineers - along with many classmates not pictured - hosted another fantastic Holiday Open House today with a variety of items they crafted themselves. This annual event features the work of EHS students in our life skills, autistic support, and Bridges classes. Students also use their communication and customer service skills to tour all shoppers through the open house and their math skills at the final point-of-sale station. Great job, Mountaineers!
Over the last 17 years, students in grades 5-8, who are part of the Leo Club, collected 1,929 cold weather accessories for those in need. Well done, Mountaineers!
