Our Mountaineers have been celebrating their very own Super Bowl – make that SOUPERBOWL! Students and staff at Highland Elementary School gathered items for Mountaineers’ Table, showing what kindness and empathy truly look like. Even more impressive? Students donated over $900 in Mount Money, a school-based currency (not real money) reward system, earned by demonstrating positive behaviors and LRG traits to help purchase additional items for those in need. That’s a win no matter the score. GO MOUNTS!
Shout out to our amazing team of EASD School Counselors and the important work they do to support our students!
Today, Ephrata High School students in the Women in STEM Club led Highland second-graders in a fun, hands-on science lesson to create "lava lamps" and discuss density - sparking curiosity and inspiring future STEM leaders.
Now through March 31, round up at the GIANT register to support the Feeding School Kids initiative and help EASD students in need. GIANT will match donations up to $100,000!
REMINDER: There is no school for students on Monday, January 19 and Tuesday, January 20. Offices will be open.
In this year’s K’Nex Design Challenge, students designed Sustainable Production Machines focused on efficiency and eco-friendly practices. Teams from EASD elementary schools and EIS presented at EIMS, with top teams advancing to the County Challenge at IU13 on Feb. 4. Great work, students!

Shout-out to the Ephrata Elks Lodge for purchasing over $1,000 in grocery gift cards to help EASD families in need. What a generous community we serve! Thank you!
Highland second graders kicked off their holiday break in the most memorable way! On Friday, they visited residents of Keystone Villa with their very own “parade” inspired by the iconic Macy’s parade balloons! A joyful start to the season for both students and residents alike.
Teachers change lives every day—sparking curiosity, building confidence, and shaping the future. Thank you, Lancaster STEM Alliance, for inviting EASD to collaborate on this video project recognizing the amazing work of educators in our region! https://youtu.be/vx0wYAyIZoc?si=8CyM5YkcgWvMn3p1
The fun and learning are sky-high on this half day! From the middle school Clash of Classes to elementary STEAM Days, students are making memories through hands-on, high-energy experiences. A big thank you to the Ephrata Area Education Foundation for helping make these opportunities possible! Have a safe and enjoyable long weekend, Mountaineers. We’ll see you back on Monday!
The votes are counted and secrets are safe…for now! Find out TONIGHT at the Homecoming football game who takes the crown and what our mascot’s new name will be!
School pride never tasted so good! 💜💛 Our cafeterias are dishing out purple and gold cauliflower — because even our veggies are team players!
Exciting news! Last year, groups of elementary and EIS students participated in short writing contests with Young Writers. The challenge? Create a story or poem in 100 words or less based on a theme. Out of hundreds (even thousands) of entries nationwide, many EASD students are now published authors! We're so proud of their creativity and hard work!
REMINDER: EASD schools and offices will be closed Friday, August 29 & Monday, September 1. Best wishes for a safe and relaxing weekend!
HIGH FIVE! We did it! Great job this week, Mountaineers! See you back on Tuesday!
On National Dog Day we’re celebrating our two amazing Facility Dogs, Izzy and Bentley, who bring comfort and joy to everyone they meet. Bentley works hard every day reminding us what true loyalty looks like, while Izzy… well, let’s just say she’s balancing her time between her Facility Dog duties and moonlighting at Penn State. Rumor has it she’s working on her degree in “Advanced Belly Rub Studies” with a minor in Treat Negotiations. Thank you, Izzy and Bentley, for the pawsitive impact you make every single day!
