Authentic Learning in Action!
Fifth-grade students are taking part in a hands-on Tipi Raising and Storytelling event with renowned author and storyteller Robin Moore. Together, they are building a 16-foot Cheyenne Tipi and exploring how Native Americans used the natural world with respect and creativity. This experience brings their curriculum to life and deepens learning through history, culture, and teamwork.

Exciting news! Last year, groups of elementary and EIS students participated in short writing contests with Young Writers. The challenge? Create a story or poem in 100 words or less based on a theme. Out of hundreds (even thousands) of entries nationwide, many EASD students are now published authors! We're so proud of their creativity and hard work!

Happy Mountaineer Pride Day! 💜💛 Our schools are shining in a sea of purple and gold today—and the pride is unstoppable!”

REMINDER: EASD schools and offices will be closed Friday, August 29 & Monday, September 1. Best wishes for a safe and relaxing weekend!

HIGH FIVE! We did it! Great job this week, Mountaineers! See you back on Tuesday!

On National Dog Day we’re celebrating our two amazing Facility Dogs, Izzy and Bentley, who bring comfort and joy to everyone they meet. Bentley works hard every day reminding us what true loyalty looks like, while Izzy… well, let’s just say she’s balancing her time between her Facility Dog duties and moonlighting at Penn State. Rumor has it she’s working on her degree in “Advanced Belly Rub Studies” with a minor in Treat Negotiations. Thank you, Izzy and Bentley, for the pawsitive impact you make every single day!

There were countless smiles and energetic high-fives this morning! We are happy to report all students have arrived safely and the 2025-2026 school year is officially underway! Let's make it a great one!

Please join us in welcoming the newest member of the Mountaineer family! Look for him at sporting events, in our schools, and throughout the community!

A special thank you to Ryan Rydzewski & Gregg Behr for sharing their blueprint for learning and motivating our staff to embody LRG traits to “Be The E” every day.

Educators are engaged and energized to bring another inspiring school year to students!

It's been a fantastic start to the week with our incredible teachers back in school! This afternoon, we’ll all come together for our official District Opening—the perfect way to kick off a great school year before we welcome students back on Monday.

Congratulations to all of our June School Board Resolution recipients! From impressive athletic accomplishments to academic honors at the state and national levels, it was a pleasure to recognize so many deserving Mountaineers at the final board meeting of the 2024–25 school year.

After a long weekend, it was a great start to the week recognizing students in grades 5-8 with Mountaineer Achievement Awards! These students are celebrated for a variety of successes this school year. Congratulations, Mountaineers!

Our 5th Graders wowed us today with an incredible showcase of their Cornerstone Projects, each one highlighting a career of their choice! From professional athletes and chefs to veterinarians and an Air Force pilot, these young scholars dove deep into research, crafted thoughtful presentations, and confidently shared their work with family, classmates, and school leaders.

More Mountaineers giving back... Today, students from Ephrata Intermediate School's Leaders of Future Generations group visited WellSpan Health Ephrata Community Hospital with a heartfelt mission: to brighten the day of discharged patients with handmade cards and cheerful potted plants. After weeks of planning, the students rallied around their self-created motto, "Growing Seeds of Hope," which inspired both their creations and their compassionate outreach. This meaningful initiative is part of a leadership program through Compass Mark, now in its third year at EIS and implemented in three school districts across Lancaster County.

Have a rising 4th or 5th grade student? Join us for this event to learn the benefits of students' involvement in our music program and experience first-hand why EASD has been voted a 12-time Top Music Community.

Our spring concerts were nothing short of amazing—if we do say so ourselves! Missed any or want to relive the magic? It’s the perfect weekend watch. Catch the full performances now on our Events YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@ephrataareaschooldistric.../streams

EIS 6th grade teacher Mr. Ted Irwin was named the Elementary Science Teacher of the Year on behalf of the IU13 and Lancaster County STEM Alliance. Mr. Irwin received his recognition at the STEM Awards Banquet last evening. Congrats! 💜💛 #MountsPride
