Each year, we have the wonderful opportunity to welcome rising 5th-grade students from all four of our elementary schools!
For families and students who have attended the same school building for the past five years, transitioning to a new environment can bring up some anxious feelings. To help ease this transition, we are thrilled to introduce a brand-new opportunity this year. We would like to invite you and your child to join us for a two-hour Transition Camp. These sessions will be held between August 3 and August 13.
What to Expect:
We will start by meeting at the main Ephrata Intermediate School (EIS) office, located by the red barn across from Mountaineer Field. We will gather briefly as a large group in the Large Group Instruction (LGI) room before separating into student and family groups.
• Students: A team of EIS teachers will lead fun, engaging activities designed to help students get to know the building and - most importantly - each other! Depending on the weather, some activities will take place outdoors. Please ensure your student wears comfortable clothing and proper footwear (like sneakers) to be active.
• Families: We will begin with an outdoor tour to review school arrival and dismissal routines, including morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up locations. From there, we will tour the inside of the building and conclude in the Media Center. There, we will cover essential information for parents and guardians, including PowerSchool, Schoology, attendance policies, communication, volunteering, and student support systems. You will also receive an information booklet packed with resources and space for notes.
We will wrap up our two-hour session by bringing the students and families back together at the EIS main entrance.
