Districtwide, we have a set of beliefs that guide our decision-making and behavior. The first of these beliefs is that public education is a shared partnership among students, families, the school, and our larger community. Last year, we approved a 2025-2026 school calendar with the addition of spring conferences for families with students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. We believe adding spring conferences provides us an opportunity to increase communication among our students, their families, and the school district.
As this is a new process for us this year, we are attempting to run things a bit differently than fall conferences. Our plan is to offer a combination of traditional, 20-minute in-person meetings as well as shorter, 10-minute virtual check-ins.
As a K-8 parent or guardian, you will be invited to either participate in a 20-minute in-person or 10-minute virtual meeting. If your child’s teacher believes there is more to discuss than can be accomplished in a 10-minute virtual meeting, we will recommend a traditional in-person conference. Once in-person conferences are scheduled, invitations will then be sent to sign up for the 10-minute virtual conferences. If you receive an invitation for a virtual meeting but would prefer to have a traditional conference, you will be able to indicate this preference, and we will do our best to accommodate. It is our hope that the virtual check-ins will provide greater flexibility for parents/guardians managing work and other commitments.
Families who were invited to an in-person, 20-minute conference received emails on Tuesday, March 10 and Friday, March 6 to schedule their meetings. Email invitations to all K-8 families were sent on Wednesday, March 18 and Friday, March 13 with instructions to schedule virtual, 10-minute conferences.
The online scheduler closed on the afternoon of Monday, March 23. Please contact your school administrative assistant if you need assistance with scheduling.
Lastly, we have provided a few potential FAQs on this new process.
Thank you for your flexibility, cooperation, and understanding as we create this new opportunity to increase communication and strengthen partnerships.
