Dr. Seuss's
Read Across America is a day celebrated by schools all over the country. This
day honors the great Theodor Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, who was born on March 2. Dr. Seuss found his
purpose to be challenging, entertaining, and delighting children.
"A person's a person, no matter how small."
Students at Highland Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss's Read Across
America for the entire week of March 3. Student were able to read several Dr. Seuss books such as The Cat in The Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, Horton Hears a Who, Go Dog Go, Bartholomew and the Oobleck, and more.
Throughout the week teachers also planned fun activities for the students such as making Oobleck, a massless object that is neither a solid liquid or gas, coloring pages, and
they also took time to snuggle up and read. As Dr. Seuss would say "You're never too old, too wacky,
or too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child."
