Jump Rope for Heart
On Tuesday, January 29, the students at Fulton had a fun work-out involving lots and lots of jump ropes. According to Tim Rhoades, the physical education teacher at Fulton Elementary, "This program is sponsored by the American Heart Association and helps teach kids about community service and helping people that have heart disease and/or stroke (which are the #1 and #3 killers in America). Not only can students help raise money for the American Heart Association, they also all participate in a jump rope unit during the month of January where they learn about ways to keep their heart healthy and strong. At the end of the unit, each grade participates in the Jump Rope for Heart event. In the JRFH event, the students come down with the rest of their grade and jump rope and participate in other jumping activities for about 45 minutes. Their exercises are followed by a light snack and water break before they head back to their classrooms."
