Walking down the fourth and fifth grade wing at Fulton Elementary, students’ pieces of literature are displayed on the walls in any direction you turn. Mrs. Nesterlode’s fourth grade class has been working hard to define their writing skills and as a reward of their hard work, their stories and poems are exhibited in the hallways for everyone to view and read.
Another motive for the third, fourth, and fifth graders to improve their writing skills was to prepare them for the PSSA testing, which occurred from Monday, March 31st through Friday, April 4th. The Pennsylvania System of School Assessment tests are taken in every public school throughout Pennsylvania in order to adopt academic standards in varying grade levels for reading, writing, speaking and listening, and mathematics. Schoolteachers can decide what curriculum and instruction to give their students so that they meet the standard expectations of the PSSA tests.
Judging by the excellent work found in the fourth and fifth grade wing, the students used their great writing skills on the PSSA tests, and with much effort and hard work, the third, fourth, and fifth grade students did great.
