Students Lined up for Great Food to Share   A Student Participating in the German Donut Eating Contest

Buenos Diaz! Guten Tag! On Friday, April 11, the members of the German and Spanish NHS put together a fun celebration in honor of the Japanese holiday called Culture Day. The German and Spanish classes of each period went outside the gymnasium, which is where the festivities took place. In order to experience other cultures, students learned dances, played games, and ate food. Some dances that the students learned included the Spanish “Bachata” dance, and the German “Polka” dance. The students also got to participate in the donut game and the Bota game. The donut game involves eating a donut tied to a string with no hands, which the students at Ephrata got a kick out of. The Bota game originated in Spain and the purpose of this game is to drink water out of a canteen.
A special thanks goes out to Heather Ashton, Anna and Angelica Luciano, and the German and Spanish NHS who helped organize and run the event. Culture Day at Ephrata was truly a success, and students from both languages really came together in a fun endeavor. Adios and Auf Wiedersehen!
