Friday, March 14 (3.14), was considered Pi Day. To celebrate, Akron Elementary's 5th grade took time to learn about pi. They read the book "Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi" which was to enhance their understanding of pi.
At 2:00 p.m., parent volunteers arrived in the cafeteria with a variety of different flavored pies. There were over 20 kinds of pies for the 5th graders to enjoy! However, the afternoon wasn't just about eating pies. The students also had to apply some of the math they had learned. Round objects were placed on the table and the students had to do various calculations using pi.
