The third graders at Akron Elementary dissected owl pellets on December 11. The purpose of this activity was to find animal remains in the pellets and the students would decide whether they were from a rodent, bird, shrew, or weasel. Bones and skulls made it relatively easy to identify the animals. Some others, however, were not so easy to identify, but the students were quite pleased with their discoveries. You can tell by the smiles on all their faces.
