The Newstead Trio came to Akron Elementary on April 24 and put on a show full of music and entertainment. The trio consists of two males, Michael Jamanis and Xun Pan, and a female, Sara Male.
While performing at Akron, the trio told a story through their instruments. They had the students imagine that they were taking a trip to the zoo and had the sounds of the instruments correspond with the different animals. The cello represented an elephant, the piano represented a bee and so on.
Some information about the trio is that they gave their concerto debut in Shenzhen, China performing Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. They have performed at a variety of locations such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and have been broadcasted live worldwide on television and radio.
They have been requested as a resident ensemble for festivals in China, Italy, and the United States. They reside in the Pennsylvania Academy of Music and have been included on the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour roster since 1996.
