Wood Technology

            Wood Technology is an exciting hands-on course designed to educate students about basic manufacturing process in the woodworking industry.  This would include safe use of tools and powerequipment, design, joinery, assembly, and finishing along with the study of the physical characteristics of wood andhow they affect the final product.  Students will develop, design, produce, test, assess, and problem solve solutions to their own different individual projects that may include a shaker style table or other small furniture. There is a lab fee of approximately $20.

                  Construction Technology

Construction Technology will enable students to gain a basic understanding about residential and commercial construction through hands-on problem solving activities.  The course will concentrate on problem solving activities that involve developing, producing, using, and assessing structures while studying architectural design, structural engineering and community planning concepts.  Students will also learn about materials, tools, construction enterprises, processes, planning/design/site preparation, and career opportunities in the construction field.  The class will work on various scaled-down projects and may include the class forming a construction company and constructing a project such as a storage shed.  If you are thinking of a career in building or just interested in construction activities then this course is for you!
