Welcome!

This site is intended for students and parents of the Ephrata Area School District's grade 3-5 string program. It is meant to provide information of a supportive nature (not direct instruction), and as such is somewhat incomplete by itself. Both parents and students should feel free to contact me for further information or clarification as needed.

Current events:

Welcome to 2010!

With the new year, elementary orchestra will soon be here. For many, orchestra and the concert are highlights of the year! Details:

Also, with a long stretch of cold weather that people are inside more and with relatively few holidays, for many students this will be the most productive time of the year and will build off the momentum of first semester. For a few though, there will be struggles with the mid-year "doldrums," that putting the "harness" of regular practice back on after the holidays may need special attention. Most students will need adult help and oversight and help to do this, and parents are encouraged to be firm (but loving!) until consistent practice habits are securely re-established.

Snow day protocols: On a delayed opening day, even if a student's lesson is before school opens students should still bring their instruments and music for a lesson. I do attempt to see and work with every student, even if only for a shorter lesson. (The same is true for a field trip which is for only a part of a day.)
