Dual Enrollment - Fall 2010

NOTE: DUAL ENROLLMENT REIMBURSEMENT WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE FINAL PA STATE BUDGET

About Dual Enrollment:  Ephrata High School is entering its fifth year in the Dual Enrollment program.  This program allows high school seniors the opportunity to take college courses (up to six credits per semester) at the local schools listed on this sheet.

Dual Enrollment Courses:

1.      Must be non-remedial college courses.

2.      Must be offered in a core academic subject as defined by NCLB Act of 2001.  They must be included in one of the following subjects: English, reading or language arts, mathematics, science, foreign language, civic and government, economics, arts, history and geography.

Ephrata Eligibility / Criteria:

1.      The student must be a senior to participate in this program.

2.      The student may take a maximum of six credits per semester.

6.      Enrollment is limited in number as determined by our grant.  Students will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, so be sure to submit required paperwork ASAP!

Dual Enrollment Cost:

  1. Parents / students are responsible for paying ALL costs associated with the course up front, as well to submit the necessary paperwork to receive reimbursement costs approved by the state.
  2. Students are reimbursed by the district at the conclusion of the academic year (usually, these are approved during the June school board meeting).  The district must wait until the end of the year, as we do not receive our final reimbursement figures from the state until May.

Dual Enrollment Credits:

  1. Students receive college credits on an official transcript from the post-secondary institution.
  2. Students have the option of receiving high school credit for each course as well.  If the student chooses to have the class(es) appear on their transcript, each will have a credit value of 1.0 and a weighted course level of three (3).
