Congratulations to the Ephrata High School Varsity Baseball team!
On Thursday, May 20, the Ephrata High School Varsity Baseball team earned a 9-7 win over Manheim Central to capture the 2010 Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship. Ephrata advanced to the championship game at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster with a 2-1 win over Pequea Valley on Saturday, May 15 and a 12-0 win over Cedar Crest on Wednesday, May 19, where senior Madison Zimmerman picked up the win with a five-inning, no-hit, shut-out.
In the championship game against Manheim Central, the Mountaineers scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and added single runs in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th innings. Manheim Central scored a run in the 2nd inning, five runs in the 4th, and one in the 6th but fell short of beating the Section 2 LL champions.
“On behalf of our players, parents, and coaching staff, I want to extend a big thank you to everyone in the District who came out to support us…. It meant a lot to our team to have such a strong presence in the stands! We are extremely proud to represent the school district and the community as 2010 Lancaster-Lebanon Champions,” said Head Coach Adrian Shelley.
The team advanced to the District play-offs where they suffered a 10-0 loss to Warwick on Monday, May 24. The Mounts finished the season with a 17-8 record.
