Your Child's School Nurses

EASD employs four Certified School Nurses (full-time, RN, baccalaureate degree, certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Education) and seven health technicians (part-time, RN or LPN) to provide health room coverage for the full student day in every school.

The primary role of the Certified School Nurse is to support student learning.  This is accomplished by coordinating state mandated health programs and by handling illness and injury that occurs while the child is in school.  The Health Room is not a medical clinic.  The nurse will not diagnose illness or injury, but will provide basic first aid and carry out written doctor's orders as necessary.  Every attempt will be made to communicate with parents/guardians regarding health concerns.  The nurse also serves as a resource on many health related issues.
